FAQs - Registrations

Surrey HA will accept late registrations from parents.

However, please be aware that Surrey HA may not be able to guarantee the first choice of camp as places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Your childs school / club has nominated them for DC, and in order to enable your child to attend a camp you need to accept the invitation and comnplete the registration details (validating the information provided by the school and indicating your preferred choices of camps) and paying the training fee.

The England Hockey Single System is based on a January 1st cut off date rather than the school Sept 1st dates yoiu will be use to.

Please see the "What age group" page for further information.

Please see the "What age group" page for further information.

The DC is the 1st part of the single system which is aimed at developing players toward the England International teams, as such players need to train in the correct group which wont always be with their school or club friends.

There are a number of Hockey Camps run within Surrey which are aimed at the more "Fun" end of the market without the pressure of "Selection" - Click here for more information

Schools and Clubs submit their nomination data to Surrey HA by the end of April.

Wherever possible, Surrey identifies any obvious duplications and errors and asks the school or club for verification.  As part of the registration process, parents are asked to confirm that the data regarding their child is correct and add any missing data.

If any details are incorrect and you do not have acces to change them please email us by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. quoting your Surrey ID number and the changes required

Invitations to attend DC will be emailed to parents no later than the second week of May.

The email will include a link to your childs registration page where you will be asked to validate the information provided by your childs school / club

The registration proces requires you to select a minimum of 2 camp choices and pay the camp training fee.  Once the registration is complete your child will be allocated to a camp.

Wherever possible, Surrey HA allocates players to their first choice camp on a first come first served basis.  However, if there are either too many players or not sufficient players of the same age wishing to attend a particular camp then players may be allocated their second choice of camp.

In previouis years 95% of players have received their 1st choice camp allocation

Wherever possible, Surrey HA allocates players to their first choice of camp.

However, until the registrations have been received, Surrey HA is unable to guarantee every single player their first choice of camp.

Please list a second option in order to register your child.

If your child is not allocated their first choice of camp  and cannot attend another camp your training fee will be refunded as long as you contact us more than 3 weeks before the start of the allocated camp

The camp options available to each player are based on the nomination received from your School / Club

Surrey HA is unable to change that nomination based on a request from a parent.

Please contact your schoool / club and ask them to update the nomination via the normal nomination process

We recommend that players attend all 3 days of the camp to maximize the benefits of attending the camp and to allow the coaches to fully assess the players.

However, in certain circumstances, some players only attend 2 days of the camp.

There would be no reduction in fees for attending less than the full 3 days and players / parents must accept that feedback from the camp will be limited due to missing sessions.

Currently the U13/15 camps are only open to players who are U12 or older based on the Jan 1 cut off date.

The only exception to this is for GK's as we do not offer GK Coaching at U11/12 level.

If your child is U11 then the U11/12 will be the only option this year and we have no plans to increase the number of Camps

The England Hockey Single System is based on a January 1st cut off date rather than the school Sept 1st dates yoiu will be use to.

Please see the "What age group" page for further information.

As an under 12 a player is eligable for both U13/15 and U11/12.

What camp you are invited to will be based on the nomination received from School / Club.

If you were nominated for both you will be allocated to the "U13/15"

If you have been allocated to U13/15 but would prefer to step back to U11/12 please email us by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

We will be unable to advise which pitch will be used for which age group at specific camps until the majority of registrations are received and processed.

As much as possible we book pitches close to each other but this is not always possible

Please exit the registration system, wait 5 minutes and then click the registration link in the email again.

Yes, your child would have received a nomination from both her school and club.

Where the information supplied by school and club is identical Surrey HA removes the duplicate entry, however, where the data supplied is not 100% identical then invitations for both nominations are issued.

The system is set up to require two choices because it is impossible for Surrey to guarantee every player their first choice of camp, whether this be because a camp is over subscribed, or on rare occasions, insufficient number of players of a specific birth year.

Please list the second camp as your second option and if, for any reason your child is not allocated to the first camp we will refund the training fee.

The DC Camps are split in to 3 different age ranges

There are:

  • 5 camps covering U12 to U15
  • 2 camps covering U16 & U17
  • 2 camps covering U11 & U12

Only the camps specific to your age group / nomination will show as available for you.

The Surrey DC is budgeted to run on a "Break Even" basis.

In general the profit / loss per player across the whole Surrey Player Pathway has been less than £2.00 per head

We are always looking for ways to reduce costs and at the same time improve the coaching and experiance the players get.
